large womens clothingShopping in large women’s clothing stores is a unique experience. For curvy women it is a more comfortable and relaxed environment where the sizes of clothing are realistic and the salespeople are non-judgmental. This can make for a more enjoyable, not to mention successful shopping trip and can help relieve the feelings of frustration and disappointment that come with shopping in regular retail stores.

However, there are still some important points to consider when searching through the racks of a plus sized retailer. If you are heading out to purchase clothing from one of the countries growing number of large women’s clothing stores then here are some tips to consider.

Tip Number One: Help is good.

Asking for assistance from a salesperson can not only save you time but it can also save you a lot of frustration. A clothing sales person will know their stock and will be able to supply you with a lot of advice and suggestions. For example, consider describing your ideal outfit to a salesperson and then ask them to pick some pieces for you. This will allow you to relax and enjoy your shopping experience instead of shuffling through rack after rack looking for sizes and colors.

Tip Number Two: Slip on many sizes.

One of the most exasperating challenges to face while shopping for larger clothing is knowing what size to choose. The easiest way to avoid this dilemma is to take multiple sizes into the fitting room with you. For example, if you fall in love with a flowing, floral blouse choose the size you think is most likely to fit and then also bring a size smaller and larger when heading to the fitting room.

Tip Number Three: Step out of the change room.

One of the most common mistakes made by women while shopping is that they purchase clothes without moving an inch while wearing them. Trying on a pair of jeans and judging how they fit by merely standing in front of a mirror is not the best approach. When shopping in a large women’s clothing store make sure to step out of the fitting room area and move while wearing any clothing you are considering. You may discover that your choices are perfectly comfortable, but on the other hand you may find that you are unable to sit, bend or lift your arms.
